Store History:
In January 2004, the grocery store in Lindsay closed. The citizens of the Lindsay community were very concerned about not having a grocery store in their community. With the help of Community Organizing in Nebraska, the community was organized to do research and hold several meetings. This led to a training class that resulted in fifteen house meetings. The feedback from these house meetings led the community to form a Coop with a Board of Directors.

The Lindsay Coop Market was formed in August, 2004, and the former store was purchased. At that time Jeff and Twila Alderson, who already own two similar businesses in North Bend and Fremont, showed an interest in the leasing of the store.  An agreement was reached and they leased the store and guided the community to a total renovation which included new floors, walls, coolers, freezers, fire door, windows, and front facing. This work was funded with shares that were sold and also by donations. Renovation began in February with many volunteers working day and night, and was completed with the Lindsay Coop Market opening in May 5, 2005.

Many thanks to the community who prayed, donated money, time, talent, and labor for a creating a beautiful grocery store. Also, thanks to Jeff and Twila Anderson, our goal had been reached, with their guidance and their lease agreement.
